Nautilus - Teaching Systems to Speak API

About the client

Nautilus English Books imports and distributes English-language books since 1997, covering everything from children’s titles to contemporary fiction and art albums. They sell both online and in their small physical bookstore.

The challenge

From the start, Nautilus asked for specific API integrations and interconnections that had proven difficult in previous attempts.

They also needed:

  • a tailored product filtering system, capable of handling ~20,000 items
  • an instant search feature that would return results immediately, without slowing down the site.

The solution

Nautilus was built as a fully API-driven e-commerce ecosystem, integrating multiple external systems into one seamless workflow:

  • Sameday
    • Locker Map Widget → embedded map for Easybox selection in checkout (frontend).
    • General API → automatic AWB generation, shipment tracking, and sync back into the website (backend).
  • Facturis.ro (single API with multiple flows)
    • Inventory and price imports.
    • Orders sent from the site as proformas or invoices (based on internal settings).
    • Final invoices retrieved and made available directly in the client’s account.
  • Netopia ePayment
    • Secure online payments integrated via API into the checkout flow.

Together with the site’s own custom e-commerce engine, these integrations provide a fully automated system where products, orders, invoices, deliveries, and payments are kept in sync across all platforms.

The results

Everything is implemented and works ass supoosed to.
